Fun day and we still have more to go!

We started with lunch at Demos' and it was delicious. Shelby ate almost a whole bowl of their chicken and rice soup so I guess we will be making some of that very soon. Then it was off to the Painted Cupcake for dessert. Our friend Tracey owns it and they were wonderful. Can't wait to try another flavor (or 2) after dinner tonight! If you live in the area you should check it out...she's downtown at the start of The Arcade. Ok we are off to visit with Dana and Beth.

This is how you look with a full belly full of soup and cupcake!!!

This is a cool fort Shelby's Aunt Lauri passed down to us. Now if I can just make something besides a box...

Yesterday had some firsts...

We had an unseasonable cool weekend and what a blessing that was. We started yesterday at church and Shelby did great for her 2nd week in a row. I keep wondering when we will have to make a quick get away out of the sanctuary but haven't had to yet (what an angel!). Then it was home for a nap. I was in the next room and heard a loud thud...my heart stopped. Poor Grams was on the phone and just heard me say "I think she fell out of the bed I'll call ya back?". Sure enough she was on her back in the floor crying her eyes out. It took awhile to get her calmed down but it appeared nothing was hurt. So I have converted her crib to a toddler bed. As I was looking at the directions I noted that it said for use no younger than 2 1/2 years old...great the one thing I didn't need her to be advanced at was climbing. I think I need the prayers for nap time today as it should be interesting. We ended the afternoon with her first trip to the Nashville Zoo. We went with our friends the Haddocks and Madison showed us the ropes. Shelby Marie and Shelby Grace just kept checking each other out...can't wait for them to be ready to play with each other. Shelby liked the big cats the best and was rambling in Chinese about them (using the correct Chinese name for the big cats of course). She also really enjoyed the petting area except for the dirt getting in her sandals...she is so funny about her feet and toes or as she calls them her oohh lalas. Can't wait for our next new adventure.

We are alone...

Well we had our last expected house guests leave today. Shelby had such a wonderful time with Austin and Avery and her Aunt Jen. too!! The kids survived..Shelby had some survival of the fittest moments...pinching, biting, and the occasional slap. We are working on this but she is definitely almost 2. She came out of her shell quick with them and had lots of fun playing. We went to Nashville Shores with Sheri and her girls and a great time was had by all. She continues to love the water and jumped to all who would catch her. We also went to an indoor playground and she let Austin and Avery carry her up into the maze and they were amazing keeping her safe so I wouldn't have to worry. We will miss them bunches and can't wait until our next visit.

Shelby is 23 months today and has her first stuffy nose. She doesn't seem to feel bad but I think her nose is itching...gotta love the Tennessee allergies (at least I hope that's what it is). We are going to try to go to church on Sunday so wish us luck!

Just a few new pics

We recently had a visit with my Grandma from St. Pete and my Aunt Charlotte and cousins-Charlene, Leslie, and Josh (hopefully to be an official cousin some day) from Louisiana. Shelby did great and loved them all by the time they left. We went to a birthday party for Jacob at a park and she loved the play area. We are anxiously awaiting Jennifer, Austin, and Avery who should be here any minute!

Still waiting for Shelby...

Our wait for Shelby began on September 13, 2005. We are now very close to being with our angel. We hope to travel in early 2009. This has been a journey filled with many highs and lows. I want to take this oppportunity to thank everyone who has stood by me and prayed for us. My mom-she has been on this roller coaster from the first informational meeting and we take turns keeping each other grounded, my family-my grandma who helped me have the best nursery ever and my LA gang-for not giving up that they will soon have another niece and cousin, friends-way to many to name but I'm going to try (and if I leave someone out don't fret we will call it a paper pregnancy moment)-Lauri (all the cards), the Wardskis, Jen., Lisa, Sheri, Tiffany, my Hillcrest UMC friends...always patiently letting me cry, vent, and forever guess at what China will do next, and last but not least my work family-I can't even begin to express how they have kept me lifted up...from Sally starting her hair bow collection, Chinese New Year celebrations, Sebrina always keeping up with the rumor queen and marking the days off as we get them, and finally all the cards and pick me ups left quietly on my desk at the most needed times. They always know when the end of the month comes (referral time) I need a shoulder and pep talk and never waiver in staying positive. So thank you all again for what you have done and all that I know you will do until we have "Shelby Marie from Tennessee" (from the famous ? my dad had for her in her quilt scrapbook "Shelby Marie are you really from Tennessee...you look Chinese to me")
