Halloween, Phoenix, house, fair, and circus oh my!!

Shelby loves these teeth...shall I explain? We got a new Max & Ruby Halloween movie and Max has lots of vampire teeth and Shelby thinks they are funny so when she won these at a school Halloween fair she was happy!

This is fall fun day at school. The kids dressed up like scarecrows and they had lots of fun and games.

We did Halloween a little less traditional this year...we went to the Pumpkin Shine at church. It was a lot of fun and Shelby won a cake walk...she was pretty excited about that. She was a fairy...thanks Aunt Charlotte for the super cute outfit.

Our trip to Phoenix starts here. We drove to Dallas to fly out and I got to have dinner with my friend Randy. For those of you that know him don't worry he is still as handsome and funny as ever! It was just like old times and I look forward to seeing him again soon because he will be covering the Shreveport area...super excited about this. Then we were off to Phoenix. We had 5 of our 8 Guizhou families there. We are looking forward to 2012 in Nashville and hope to see Christina, Sally & Olivia, Jade, Kelsey, & Caleb there...and their parents too of course!! We really missed you all. This is our friend Susan's house. She is very proud of this cactus and I think she should be it's pretty impressive.

Guizhou sisters plus Susan (Eve wanted her momma so Susan joined in). Thanks to Denise and Brian for the great shirts!

We had to get one with our Elizabeth. She traveled with us to get her little sis Clare so she is definitely a Guizhou sister even though she isn't from that provence.

This had to be my favorite moment of the trip...and yes I cried!! We were having dinner at a fabulous Mexican place in shifts and we met in the middle. The girls just had a moment and we had our own Master Card commercial...plane tickets..$$$, hotel...$$$, rental car...$$$, this moment...PRICELESS!!! They were singing, laughing, and dancing around and this is why it made the whole trip worth it. Guizhou sisters forever.

This is Ms. Pat and Gabriel (he is Eve's little brother). We didn't know it but he was on the way while we were in China so he is Shelby's Guizhou brother forever!!

We went to the Phoenix zoo and though a little hot it was a great time. Shelby never gets tired of looking at animals and they all had a really good time petting and brushing the goats. Shelby learned a new way to scratch an itching head too!

The grounds at the resort were beautiful. The flowers, palm trees, and mountain views were fantastic!

This is the view from my bedroom.

This is the view from our back porch...do you know how much my dad would have loved this view?!!

We actually have roof on now and are close to getting shingles but I'm behind with my pics.

We went to the Webster Parrish fair and it was just my speed! Not to crowded or big. My favorite part was the monster bag of cotton candy!!! I think Shelby is going to be a fan of Six Flags real soon!

We went to the circus for Shelby's 1st time. She seemed to enjoy it...especially the cotton candy, snow cones, and all the light up toys. She had her eye fixed on this pony from the start and I was glad we got him. Don't know when we will go to the circus again...don't really like the way the animals are treated...after all an elephant shouldn't look skinny!!!

Still waiting for Shelby...

Our wait for Shelby began on September 13, 2005. We are now very close to being with our angel. We hope to travel in early 2009. This has been a journey filled with many highs and lows. I want to take this oppportunity to thank everyone who has stood by me and prayed for us. My mom-she has been on this roller coaster from the first informational meeting and we take turns keeping each other grounded, my family-my grandma who helped me have the best nursery ever and my LA gang-for not giving up that they will soon have another niece and cousin, friends-way to many to name but I'm going to try (and if I leave someone out don't fret we will call it a paper pregnancy moment)-Lauri (all the cards), the Wardskis, Jen., Lisa, Sheri, Tiffany, my Hillcrest UMC friends...always patiently letting me cry, vent, and forever guess at what China will do next, and last but not least my work family-I can't even begin to express how they have kept me lifted up...from Sally starting her hair bow collection, Chinese New Year celebrations, Sebrina always keeping up with the rumor queen and marking the days off as we get them, and finally all the cards and pick me ups left quietly on my desk at the most needed times. They always know when the end of the month comes (referral time) I need a shoulder and pep talk and never waiver in staying positive. So thank you all again for what you have done and all that I know you will do until we have "Shelby Marie from Tennessee" (from the famous ? my dad had for her in her quilt scrapbook "Shelby Marie are you really from Tennessee...you look Chinese to me")
