Toughest morning yet...

Today started in the wee hours...she was crying out once but went quickly back to sleep with a few rubs.  Then around 3 she must have had a terrible dream or just woke up scared out of her mind.  She was screaming and standing in the crib.  She let me hold her for a few minutes but then just wanted her sippy and to lay down.  It didn't take to long and she was back to sleep.  I stayed out on the couch for awhile and had some dreams myself.  One was of my dad and that he had just brought us all kind of goodies for her...my morning was rough too.  When she woke up she was grumpy.  We mostly got grunted at and she definitely didn't want any loving.  She did eat though (we stayed in the room) and wanted me close.  I tried to take a shower and that was a huge mistake...she had a meltdown.  It didn't help when mom brought her in to look at me so I took a very quick one and was out.  It was shortly after this that she crashed.  Mom had to go to wal-mart without me.  She slept for almost 2 hours and when mom got back she tried everything she could from the wal-mart bags.  Mom found an imported section and got some Ritz crackers, JIF peanut butter and some raisins.  It was a beautiful site.  She was still a little grumpy but went out in the hall for playtime and that's when I saw my Shelby.  She was putting me where she wanted me and playing with me and the other kids.  She tried to do a flip after one of the big girls did and she's not half bad.  We were off schedule because shortly after we got out there it was nap time for the other kids.  We did a few laps up and down the hallway and if we didn't get invited to go to the park we might still be making laps.   After the park we gave KFC another try and did better tonight.  I gave her a tangerine and you guessed it she loves them.  The pictures with this are from dinner...first time she's stayed so close to me during the meal.  Relaxed and leaning in to me...that was nice after such a rough morning.  She also relaxed enough while out on our walk to put her head down on my shoulder...another great step.  She was so tired that after a quick playtime it was bath and bed.  So tomorrow I will do my best to post but our schedule has changed.  We were supposed to leave at 10:20 am but know we don't leave until 8pm.  We can stay here until 3pm but then we have several hours to kill.  All the families are concerned about this because that will throw a huge kink in naptimes and dinner.  To top it off we won't get to the hotel until 11pm or so.  I just hope we don't have to be at their medical appts. to early the next morning...I was to afraid to ask what time.  She got down tonight about 6:30pm since she didn't get her nap at her normal time so I'm expecting a early awaking but hopefully we will be able to get a nap in and let her wake up on her own before 3pm.

Jenny, you will love the White Swan. The physical appt is not *too* far of a walk from the hotel. There is a pizza hut and mcdonalds close by (but maybe lots of more stuff in 6+ years passing!)
The hotel is beautiful. Lots of great photo ops! I am so sorry you fell....you are right, it isn't paved very well, if paved at all in places.
Sounds like Shelby is doing well. Everything she is doing is normal, and I know you know that. A toddler can be tricky, at their best, but she is bonding with you and I know you and Grandma are filling her little heart with love and security :)
Hang in there, you are on the last leg of the trip. DONT leave your passport on the plane like I did! Yikes!
I think it took me about 2-3 weeks to really get back into normalcy after returning home. I am sorry you missed Wal-Mart. Maybe there is a hidden reason for that, who knows? Hang in there "Shelby-Mama" !!!!

Still waiting for Shelby...

Our wait for Shelby began on September 13, 2005. We are now very close to being with our angel. We hope to travel in early 2009. This has been a journey filled with many highs and lows. I want to take this oppportunity to thank everyone who has stood by me and prayed for us. My mom-she has been on this roller coaster from the first informational meeting and we take turns keeping each other grounded, my family-my grandma who helped me have the best nursery ever and my LA gang-for not giving up that they will soon have another niece and cousin, friends-way to many to name but I'm going to try (and if I leave someone out don't fret we will call it a paper pregnancy moment)-Lauri (all the cards), the Wardskis, Jen., Lisa, Sheri, Tiffany, my Hillcrest UMC friends...always patiently letting me cry, vent, and forever guess at what China will do next, and last but not least my work family-I can't even begin to express how they have kept me lifted up...from Sally starting her hair bow collection, Chinese New Year celebrations, Sebrina always keeping up with the rumor queen and marking the days off as we get them, and finally all the cards and pick me ups left quietly on my desk at the most needed times. They always know when the end of the month comes (referral time) I need a shoulder and pep talk and never waiver in staying positive. So thank you all again for what you have done and all that I know you will do until we have "Shelby Marie from Tennessee" (from the famous ? my dad had for her in her quilt scrapbook "Shelby Marie are you really from Tennessee...you look Chinese to me")
